Why two bathroom quotes can be thousands apart, the five things that really move the price, and how to plan a renovation that finishes on time and on budget.

“How much does a new bathroom cost?” is the question we hear most — and the honest answer is: it depends on five things. Understanding them before you get quotes makes it much easier to compare them, and to spend your budget where it matters.
1. Moving things around
Keeping the toilet, shower and basin roughly where they are is the single biggest saving. Moving a toilet means moving the waste pipe; moving a shower can mean new pipework under the floor. Sometimes it’s worth it for a much better layout — but it should be a decision, not a surprise.
2. Walk-in shower or bath?
Walk-in showers are the most requested upgrade we fit. A low-profile tray with a glass screen is simpler than a fully tiled wet room, which needs tanking and a properly graded floor. Freestanding baths look fantastic but need the space and a solid floor.
3. The suite you choose
Sanitaryware ranges from budget to designer. We help customers pick a suite that fits the room and the budget — wall-hung vanities, concealed cisterns and thermostatic showers are worth the money; some finishes aren’t.
4. Tiling
Large-format tiles look clean and modern but take more preparation. Full-height tiling costs more than tiling the wet areas only. Ask for tiling to be priced separately so you can compare like with like.
5. What’s behind the walls
Old pipework, a weak floor or a hidden leak only show up when the old suite comes out. A good quote tells you what’s included and how any surprises will be handled.
